Shilpa Bhandarkar is the Global Head of Innovation for Linklaters, responsible for fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the firm, leading the firm’s strategy on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and data analytics, exploring opportunities for process improvement and automation, and engaging with legal tech start-ups and academia to stay at the forefront of legal sector developments and thought leadership. Through design thinking, developing and testing emerging legaltech, process mapping and automation, the innovation team she leads looks to develop new tools and processes to improve the way we work with and for our clients as well as give our lawyers a differentiated experience of working at the firm.
Shilpa started her career as a project finance lawyer but her interest in technology and entrepreneurship led her to found, build and sell a mobile app company as well as grow a legaltech start-up before re-joining Linklaters in her current role. Previous roles at Linklaters include being a founding member of the Linklaters India Group, COO for the India Practice and COO for the Africa practice.
Shilpa holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and is a mentor on the LegalGeek Women in LawTech programme. She is listed as a leading ‘Disruptor’ in The Lawyer Hot 100, 2019 and an ‘Individual winner’ of the ‘TechWomen100 Awards, 2018’.
